Virus and Spyware

Viruses & spyware exist as independent executable programs on your system. They have the capability to control your computer, including monitor keystrokes, scan files on your hard drive, read your cookies, change your default homepage, and transmit data occasionally to report this information to the virus/spyware's author. All these things cause your computer to slow down, freeze up, and stop working completely. Scherer Data can resolve these problems for you. Hardware

Computer hardware fails for several different reasons. The most common reasons are user abuse, neglect, and power surges such as lighting. Whatever the reason here at Scherer Data we can help you by doing a full diagnostic on your computer and let you know what is going on with it.

We work on all brands and our diagnostics fee is only $30 for desktops and $45 for laptops. This fee covers the technicians time that he spends testing every component of your system. On average the technician spends 2 to 3 hours on desktop computers and sometimes even longer on laptops if he has to disassemble it to get to a particular component. We also offer home or business on site service for $45 per hour for home and $65 per hour for business with a minimum, of one hour for all on site service.

In most cases unless the problem is with a peripheral device, the only thing we require is the computer itself. We don't need keyboard, cables, monitor, printer or anything else unless these items themselves are suspect. 90% of the time the problem lies within the computer itself.

Our goal as far as turn around time for diagnostics in the past has been within 24-48 hours, but due to extremely heavy demand at peak times there may be as much as a three day wait. We will quote you an average wait time at the counter. If this presents an extreme problem for you, please let us know and we can make an attempt to make your computer a higher priority. This higher priority does not guarantee an immediate spot on the bench. The only guarantee of that is to pay a "rush" fee of $75. This $75 gets the computer on the bench immediately, but does not include any other service charges.

When you bring your computer in, please try to give the service technician specific items that you need repaired in order of importance.
